Instead of getting an expensive wedding caterer, a practical wedding idea would be to try making the food yourself, with the help of your friends and family. You can consult with your fiancé, along with some relatives as you come up with your wedding menu. You could then look for some places that sell the ingredients at wholesale prices. You can get information on places like these online or just by looking in your phone book. A practical wedding idea would be to cook the food a day before the wedding and then just have them reheated at the reception.

By coming up with a great menu of delectable dishes, no one might even notice that the food was not cooked by a professional caterer. You would also be able to serve more food at a fraction of the cost. You would just have to be creative so that the presentation of the dishes would complement your wedding theme as well.

Flowers

If you are planning to get married in the next year or so and you want a lot of flowers on your wedding day, but do not want to spend too much, you can start early on and plant your own flowering plants. This would particularly be a great wedding idea if you or a relative has a lot of gardening space at home, then you can plant some flowering plants that would be in bloom around the time of your wedding. You could then make use of the flowers that you would be harvesting for the décor, the bouquets, the boutonnieres as well as the centerpieces. Since you would surely have a lot of flowers of your choice at your disposal, a great wedding idea would be to fill the venue for the ceremony and the reception with lots of flowers. However, if you do have to order flowers, a wedding idea that you might want to consider would be to choose those that are in-season. By choosing in-season flowers, you would not only be able to save on flower arrangement costs, but you would also be sure that all the flowers would fresh and readily available, compared to flowers that are not in-season. These flowers might have to be imported, making them more expensive, not to mention that there is always the risk that they might not arrive in good condition after being shipped or transported.

Photography

Another creative wedding idea for your wedding photography would be to enlist a relative or a friend that has some experience on taking pictures. Just make sure that that person would be able to take pictures well since you would not be able to go back in time to have pictures re-taken.

If you do not have any friend or relative who would be able to take great pictures, then you could still have a professional photographer do the picture-taking. You could just ask him if he would be gracious enough to loan you the negatives which you can have printed yourself. This wedding idea would definitely let you save a lot of money. You can also ask the photographer if he or she is offering any discounted packages or basic photography packages.

These are just some of the creative wedding ideas which you could use to save on the wedding. Just keep in mind that if you would be able to save money while having a beautiful and unforgettable wedding, you would have more to spend on the honeymoon or for your future life as a married couple.
